Several Candidates for the Guria Regional Governor’s Position

November 7, 2013

Nino Mshvidobadze, Guria

Currently, there are only three candidates for the position of the Guria regional governor – Ilia Kechakmadze, Gocha Megrelishvili and Davit Darchia.

Banker Ilia Kechakmadze and head of Giorgi Margvelashvilis’ Guria region election office Gocha Megrelishvili do not confirm the information: “It is not true information; of course I do not confirm it. But I would like to underline that whoever occupies the position of the regional governor, I will support him,” Kechakmadze said. Megrelishvili repeated the same. He said no decisions are made so far and nobody discusses concrete candidatures yet.

Third candidate Davit Darchia said it will be strange if he is nominated for the position. “It will not be surprise if they discuss my candidature. I think I will be best candidate for the position.”

If group-mate of the Prime Minister Davit Darchia becomes Guria region governor, member of the municipal board Dimitry Kvergelidze expects he will propose some position to him too. “Dato will not have to think much about my position,” Kvergelidze said though the position of the regional governor is still vacant.
