Personnel of Medical Emergency Unit and Doctors of Outpatients Intend to File Resignation Notices

December 9, 2013

Personnel of medical emergency unit and doctors outpatients held warning demonstration in Lanchkhuti. They told humanrights.ge that reason of their demonstration is salary arrears.

“Our monthly salary is 360 lari, nurses get 240 lari and drivers 210 lari. We have received only half of our salaries for the past three months – that means doctors have received only 180 lari per month, nurses – 120 lari and drivers -105 lari. Nobody knows when the rest of the money will be transferred. They say there is ongoing argument between the state and insurance company Alpa. But we have families, our children are students and all of us have loans at the bank,” head of Lanchkhuti medical emergency service Mikheil Baramidze told humanrights.ge.

Medical personnel stated that after the head office signed agreement with Alfa according to which the latter transfers only half of personnel salaries, they have not received full salaries yet. “Only state transfers the salaries to us. Alfa owes three –months salaries,” said Doctor Natia Kiladze.

As we learned, the personnel cannot enjoy reimbursed holidays: “Nothing was mentioned about the holidays in our labor contract. So, we could not take holidays,” they told humanrights.ge.

Head of Lanchkhuti medical emergency service Mikheil Baramidze said it is warning demonstration. “We have no other choice except holding warning demonstration. We are prohibited to go on strike but from January 1, 2014 we will write resignation notices and look for other jobs. However, everybody knows how difficult it is too look for the new job in our reality,” Baramidze added.

As for the holiday reimbursement, Baramidze said it is not reflected in the labor contracts. “Our head office signed agreement with Alfa, where nothing is mentioned about holiday reimbursement. I cannot say what is real reason of it,” the head of the unit said.

We contacted representative of the press-service of the Insurance Company Alfa Lali Bregvadze. “I could not get in touch with the company director about the issue; as for me, I am not competent enough to answer your question.”

Doctors sent petition to Davit Sergenko, Minister of Labor, Healthcare and Social Welfare, with regard to the problem.
