Inmate of Ksani Prison # 15 Urges for Help

January 9, 2014

Nino Devidze

Several days ago, inmate of Ksani Penitentiary Establishment # 15 Giga Arabuli addressed to the Human Rights Center. He requested the organization to disseminate information about his health problems. The prisoner requests medical examination and treatment in proper medical center.

As the prisoner claims, his health conditions are getting graver day by day; he permanently suffers from headaches, often looses conscious and feels dizzy. Arabuli wrote that he has problems of breathing system and heart; he has acute pains in stomach. The prisoner wrote that during pain attacks he cannot stand on feet; convicted Arabuli shall be immediately operated because of his Varikocele disease.

Arabuli wrote he had been urging for adequate medical treatment for a year already but all in vain. According to his petition, the Minister of Corrections and Legal Assistance Sozar Subari and head of Medical Unit at the Ministry Natia Landia are informed about his health problems.

Human Rights Center contacted Natia Landia with regard to the prisoner’s problem. She said Giga Arabuli will be provided with medical treatment in January 2014. “There are online queues of the prisoners waiting for hospitalized and outpatient medical treatment at the Ministry. Giga Arabuli is 8th on the list and will take medical treatment in January.”

Giga Arabuli claims his health problems were caused by physical abuse and psychological oppression during imprisonment term.
