Three social enterprises to be built in Pankisi Gorge

Three social enterprises will be built in the Pankisi Gorge. According to the project representative Tamar Bekauri, grants will be awarded to the enterprises working on the care of elderly people, disabled people and children under the age of three. 

According to her, in the frame of the project, initiative groups created by local inhabitants of the village in the Pankisi Gorge will have opportunity to apply for grants too. One project will receive grant of 10 000 Euros. 

“Written applications must be submitted to a special commission of 8 members, which is made off the representatives of the Council of Elders, Akhmeta Municipal Board and local non-governmental organizations. The project aims to establish enterprise for the care of elderly and disabled people and also, children under age of three.  Our goal is to promote sustainability of the project after the funding is finished in 2015 with the support of local self governmental bodies,” Tamar Bekauri said. 

The activities planned in the project are: awareness raising –working meetings, training, individual consultations, press conferences and vocational programs. 

The projects will be financially supported by the German NGO Arbeiter Samariter Bund ASB together with the Kakheti Region Development Fund (KRDF) and European Union.
