Human Rights Center requested public information how much funds were spent on the fuel for the service cars of the leaders and employees of the Gori district administration. The administration replied that 96 421 lari was spent on the fuel in 2013.

41 881 lari out of total 96 421 lari was spent on the service of Gori municipal board chairman, deputy chairman and other staff members. Another 54 540 lari was spent on the service of district governor, deputy governor and other employees. 17 service cars are registered on the balance of the municipal administration. Number of vehicles and fuel expenses will be reduced based on the resolution of the government.

On February 6, Government of Georgia passed resolution for the determination number of service cars in state institutions. Gori municipal board discussed the resolution at the session and as board chairman Davit Razmadze concluded regulations will not apply to fire service vehicles.

Davit Razmadze, Gori municipal board chairman: “Based on the government’s resolution, it was necessary to create auto-park. The resolution differentiates vehicles according to ranks and both car categories and fuel limits are estimated in it.”

The resolution of the central government determines number of service vehicles according to working places in the local self-governmental bodies. According to the document, municipal board decided that Gori district local self-governments will need 10 service cars and 7 cars will be sold at the auction.

Revaz Gogiashvili, head of legal service at the Gori district: “Ten service cars were estimated for our municipality. Two of them will serve municipal board chairman and district governor; others will be stationed in the service-park and employees of local self-governmental bodies will use them when needed.”

Service cars purchased from the district budget were assigned to the Shida Kartli governor and senior law enforcement officers for temporary use. After 2012 parliamentary elections, Gori municipal board seized the car from then regional governor Zurab Chkheidze. The municipal board returned cars assigned to law enforcement officers too.
