Nato Usenashvili claims she is subject of political persecution. Chairman of Signagi municipal board and district majoritarian MP demand her to quit job and dismiss some employees.

On July 20, 2012 Nato Usenashvili was appointed to the position of director at the pre-school education institution in Sighnaghi district. During parliamentary elections of October 2012, she was a member of the Sighnaghi DEC №13 from the United National Movement.

“Judgment of both Signagi District Court and Tbilisi Appeal Court ruled that Nato Usenashvili was arbitrarily fired from job both times. Moreover, the judgment of the Appeal Court mentions alleged politically motivated discrimination against the woman that causes our concern as a human rights organization,” executive director of Human Rights Center Aleko Tskitishvili said.

As Nato Usenashvili reported, after the parliamentary elections Nato Usenashvili was summoned to the police and prosecutor's offices; she was told she breached the law by taking a salary both from kindergarten and DEC.

“After parliamentary elections, when political situation changed in the country, in fact they started political persecution against me. Initially they summoned me to the prosecutor’s office. In parallel to my work, I was permanently questioned at the police and prosecutor’s office. Before I was restored to my working place, they created a financial commission and started inspection of my working period,” Nato Usenashvili said.

After months-long unsuccessful persecution, on April 8, 2013, Sighnaghi municipal board sacked Nato Usenashvili from job without any grounds. Usenashvili appealed the decision at the Sighnaghi district court and the court upheld her appeal and restored Nato Usenashvili to her position.

On August 6 2013, Nato Usenashvili renewed her duties. In parallel to that municipal board and district administration continued oppression on Nato Usenashvili through different commissions and inspection to compel her to leave job.

“Human Rights Centre appeals to Kakheti regional unit of the investigation Department of the Investigation Service at the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, to enforce the judgments of the Sighnaghi District Court and Court of Appeal and not to use investigative actions as a tool of political persecution,” lawyer of Human Rights Center Tamar Lukava said.

The Center also addressed to the the Sighnaghi Municipal Board and the majoritarian MP,   to stop political persecution against Nato Usenashvili.
