People with Disabilities Not To Get Social Allowances Over 30

Based on the Gori City Hall decision, age limit was estimated for the people with disabilities to get social allowances from the social program of the City Hall. People, who are over 30, cannot receive allowances but those who are under 30 will receive social allowance of 250 lari once a year from the city hall.

Aleksandre Bibilashvili has cerebral palsy and he is 32. Based on the city hall decision he will no longer enjoy the yearly allowance.

“I cannot understand why they cancelled the allowance. Does not he need assistance at the age of 32?” asked his mother Izolda Bibilashvili.

Gori deputy mayor Nukri Jokhadze said theoretically the social program might contain some signs of discrimination. He said the City Hall will eradicate this problem and will remove the age restrictions from the social program.

Unlike the city hall, Gori district administration has doubled the social allowances for the people with disabilities; they do not fix age limit for the beneficiaries either. Head of social service at the district administration Davit Chikradze said people with cerebral palsy, autism and Down syndrome will receive 500 lari yearly allowance from their program.
