Public Discussion –“Literature for Trust Building”

July 6, 2015

Press Release

On July 7, at 12:00, in the conference hall of National Library, Human Rights Center will hold a public discussion – “Literature for Trust Building”.

Before the discussion, there will be a presentation of collected stories by Georgian, Ossetian and Abkhazian writers. Also there will be a screening of a film about Istanbul Pen Marathon.

“First Step”- it is a name of the collected stories which unites novels by Georgian, Ossetian and Abkhazian writers. The book was published with the initiative of UN Women. The collections of stories include 8 novels about women, peace and security. The writers shared their stories about war during the workshop organized by the UN Women in Istanbul. Georgian, Ossetian and Abkhazian writers perceived the stories of the colleagues as their own and narrated in the first person. According to them, it was the best way of compassion and perception of reality in a different perspective. Also it was the first step to restore public diplomacy and human relationships, which will continue by various initiatives and projects.

Speakers of the public discussion will be a writer Dato Turashvili and a confictologist Zurab Bendianishvili.

The discussion will be organized in the frame of the project implemented by Norway Helsinki Committee “Coalition for Trust” in South Caucasus with financial support of the European Commission and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
