A convict Irma Nadiradze addressed Human Rights Center for help. According to her, police officers in Gori treated her improperly, because they wanted to make her plead guilty for a crime that she has not committed.

Irma Nadiradze is serving her sentence under the article 109 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. She is accused for murdering a taxi driver. Irma Nadiradze is sentenced to 8 years imprisonment.

The convict has repeatedly addressed to the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia about the fact that she had been treated improperly and forced to confess by police officers. She asked for fair and impartial investigation. However, the convict has not received any response from the prosecutor’s office.

A lawyer of Human Rights Center Tamar Lukava is representing interests of the convict.

“On behalf of the organization, I addressed the prosecutor’s Office of Georgia and required immediate examination and impartial investigation of the facts mentioned in the statement of the convict Irma Nadiradze, in particular the facts of improper treatment by the police officers. After this appeal, the District Prosecutor’s Office in Shida Kartli started criminal investigation,”- says Tamar Lukava.

On July 9, a detective from the District Prosecutor’s Office of Shida Kartli, interrogated the convict Irma Nadiradze in the presence of the lawyer. The convict gave full testimony to the investigation about the alleged facts of improper treatment towards to her.
