Criminal Case Launched against Public Servant in Kareli

December 24, 2015
Lado Bitchashvili, Shida Kartli

Kareli ditrict former governor Emiko Peikrishvili, who now works in the bureau of the majoritarian MP from Kareli district, bit big part of Ilia Kelekhsashvili’s ear, assistant to the acting district governor. Internal political argument caused the controversy between the local public servants; verbal dispute turned into physical battle.

Emiko Peikrishvili blames acting district governor Zaza Guliashvili in his resignation; he also protested the fact that he was not allowed into the assembly of the Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia’s local organization, where acting district governor was elected to the position of the Coalition’s local organization.

“Kelekhsashvili stopped car and signed me to get into it. I was talking with him calmly and reminded him of our relation and friendship. I said he had to be a mediator between me and Guliashvili. But I understood it was useless to speak with him and I cursed Zaza Guliashvili after what he slapped me in the face. The pain made me inadequate and as police officers told me in the quarrel Kelekhsashvili lost small part of the ear,” Emiko Peikrishvili said.

After the incident Kelekhsashvili was taken to Kareli district hospital where he was provided with initial medical assistance. Doctors said it was impossible to restore the bitten part of the ear. Currently, Kelekhsashvili is in the Tbilisi based private clinic.

“Peikrishvili was cursing Guliashvili and I got angry with that; I also insulted him and then he turned to me and bit the ear;” assistant to the district governor Ilia Kelekhsashvili said.

Kareli district police already questioned the public servants. The investigation was launched under Article 113 of the Criminal Code of Georgia – premeditated minor injury of body that is punishable by imprisonment up to 3 years in length.
