On May 6, Chairman of the Free Democrats Irakli Alasania attended the session in the Gori City Council to support their party member in the City Council Tamar Tedliashvili. One of the questions on the session agenda was impeachment of Tedliashvili from the position of the chairperson of the Mandate-Procedural Commission. The leader of the Free Democrats blamed the Georgian Dream and Okruashvili’s team in political revenge.

“The member of our political party is being resigned on political grounds; for that reason I am here today. It is a political revenge against Free Democrats,” Irakli Alasania said.

Irakli Okruashvili could not hear the accusations of Irakli Alasania because he joined the session after Alasania had left the building. Okruashvili spent several minutes in the session but did not make any comments about Alasania’s accusations.

At the session, the Council members did not support for the issues, which were initiated by Irakli Okruashvili, who is advisor to the Council Chairman. They explained their decision with technically faulty initiatives.

Consequently, four members of Okruashvili’s political party boycotted the session; Council chairman Ilia Metreveli was among them. However, Metreveli said he was leaving the session due to worsened health conditions.

“Today it was not nice when the Council chairman and the members left session after a break without any clarifications,” Council member Lia Chlachidze from the Georgian Dream said.
As for the impeachment of Tamar Tedliashvili, before ballot the Council chairman cancelled this question from the agenda.

Tedliashvili does not exclude possibility that her impeachment question will be raised again by the Georgian Party – Irakli Okruashvili’s political party.
“Since they could not collect enough votes today, the chairman cancelled the ballot. Besides that, all initiatives of their leader were failed,” Tamar Tedliashvili said.

The members of the Council state the situation about Irakli Okruashvili’s initiatives is a start of their fading influence. They assume the impeachment procedures for the Council chairman Ilia Metreveli may launch.
Ilia Metreveli said he will wait for further development of the situation.
