On September 17, several residents of Plavismani village in Gori Municipality destroyed the election banners of the single mandate candidate from UNM, Badri Basishvili.

Kakha Midelashvili is one of them who destroyed the UNM’s election banners. He said he did it, because the propaganda material was pinned to his property. However, he did not hide the negative attitude towards the UNM. He clarified that the members of the UNM shall not dare to arrive in the village, because they committed a lot of crimes while being in the government: “They sold out the reserve plots and the local population did not know anything about it”.
Badri Basishvili, the single mandate candidate from the UNM, said that the people who hindred his pre-election campaign are supporters of the Georgian Dream and public servants.

“The people, who destroyed our banners, are members of the Georgian Dream. Exactly those people did not allow members of our youth team to move in the village. I promise them that after the government is changed on October 8, they will be held responsible for their actions in accordance to the law”, - Badri Basishvili declared.

Irma Nadirashvili, one of the leaders of the UNM, presented the photos of the people, who created obstacles for Basishvili to conduct pre-election campaign, on the ad-hoc briefing dedicated to the incident in Plavismani. Among them were: the chairperson of the village polling commission, the attorney of the village, the public servants and their family members. Irma Nadirashvili appealed the chairperson of the Central Election Commission and MIA and requested to respond to the incident.

The Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia’s Gori Organization declared the people involved in the incident are not their members, but it is not excluded that they are their supporters.  Gela Kapanadze, the executive secretary of the ruling party’s Gori office, accused the UNM in the provocation of the incident.

The UNM representatives were insulted and asked to leave the village Kavtiskhevi in the Kaspi District during the pre-election campaign. One more incident happened in the village Kitsnisi in Gori Municipality where Medea Abashidze, the single mandate candidate from the political party Paata Burtchuladze - State for People was deprived from the possibility to conduct the pre-election campaign and was asked to leave the village, because Temur Khubuluri, the single mandate candidate from the ruling party, had meeting one hour later in the same village.
