Kaspi municipality administration drafted the 2017 budget, which amounted to 9 732 200 GEL and submitted to the municipality board for the consideration on November 18.  The majority of the municipal board members voted for the draft of the 2017 budget and it was approved. The board members from the opposition parties did not support the budget because they did not have time to review the budget in details.

“People shall judge how it is possible that the board managed to review the bill within two days,” Otar Kosashvili, the board member from the Labor Party, said.

The board member from the United National Movement Robert Kavtiashvili said during the discussion nobody could answer the questions of the board members.

“Four days ago we learned that the discussion of the budget was planned; next day they scheduled the bureau session where we requested information and asked questions but nobody answered them. Regardless that, the bill of budget was submitted to the board session for discussion. My colleagues from the majority voted for the 2017 budget without any questions,” Robert Kavtiashvili said.

The board member Mikheil Bekauri said the deputies had questions about the budget though in order not to fail the budget project, they voted for it.

The board chairman Manuchar Merebashvili does not agree with the remarks of the deputies from opposition political parties. He said all necessary procedures were followed for the discussion of the draft budget.

“We discussed the draft budget at the bureau sessions, where the deputies had some remarks and they were envisaged in the budget; afterwards the deputies supported the final version of the budget,” the board chairman said.

The 2017 budget for Kaspi municipality was increased with several thousand GEL in comparison to previous year.
