24-years-old man arrested for the murder of 68-years-old woman

On December 4, the neighbors found 68-years-old woman dead at home in Karaleti village, Gori municipality and called police. The neighbors reported that the woman was allegedly killed during the night from December 3 to December 4. The woman had wounds from knife. 

On December 5, the police carried out special operation based on the received notification. The law enforcement officers arrested 24-years-old man. As it was later found out, the father handed the accused man to the police. 

“The father stated that his son had admitted the murder and asked for a phone. He called the police and reported that his son had committed the murder,” a neighbor said.

As the neighbors say the motive of the murder is not estimated yet.

“We do not know why he committed the crime. They were relatives. He even admitted the crime and the father handed him to the police,” Dali Akopia said.

According to the information disseminated by MIA, the law enforcement officers arrested the accused person several hours after the murder. The weapon of crime was seized by Police. Investigation is in progress on the fact of premeditated murder, article 108 of the Criminal Code.

“The officers of Shida Kartli Police Department along with Gori police Division as a result of jointly held activities detained O.R. (DoB 1993) for premeditated murder. 

Investigation established that detainee inflicted lethal injury to N.P. (DoB 1950) in his own house and fled from the place of crime. Due to the received injuries the victim died at the place of crime. Law enforcers managed to detain O.R. several hours later.”
