Human Rights Center announces vacancy for the position of lawyer-researcher within the frameworks of the campaign “Swim Safe”

Working Time: part-time

Vacancy is related to the campaign 'Swim Safe' which was started on July 16, 2018, by Ana Dolidze, Human Rights Center, Caucasus Environmental NGO Network (CENN) and Progress Center.

The campaign unifies civil society organizations and civil activists and is addressed against the mortality of citizens in the water bodies in Georgia. The aim of the campaign is to increase the accountability of government as well as the awareness of society. 

During the campaign, the need of preparation of qualified research and policy document was revealed. 

Lawyer-researcher must touch upon the following issues in the policy document:
  • Analysis/assessment of the legislation and situation in regards with the safety issues in water bodies of Georgia (sea, lakes, reservoirs, river and etc.);
  • Review of the legislation and practice in terms of safety and protection in water bodies in European developed countries;
  • Preparing recommendations in relation with European legislation and in line with the requirements envisaged by the EU Association Agreement;
  • Preparing recommendations in order to prevent the mortality caused by the drowning and dangers existing in the water bodies;
  • Participating in different formats of working meetings in order to advocate the issues reflected in the policy document;
Requirements:

  • Higher Education (Master Degree in human rights law or public law);
  • Experience of preparing research and policy documents;
  • Fluency in English.
  • Salary: 650 dollar equivalent in GEL (gross);
  • Interested individuals must present the following documents in the set deadline:
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV);
  • Copy of document proving higher education (diploma);
  • Piece of work (Research, policy document, etc...);
  • The name of one recommender and contact information who can assess the professional abilities of the individual;
  • Proof of passing English language examination.
