Moving occupation intensified in Khurvaleti

January 29, 2019

So-called new barbwires appeared alongside the occupation line in Khurvaleti village. The locals say the occupation regime renewed installation of fences that divided the plots of some locals. They say the so-called demarcation works started from the occupied village of Dzuakaantkari and moved several meters deep into the Georgia-controlled territory.

“Jukaani is occupied village, from where they plan to construct a road; they have a road above and now they want to construct the second one, which will be closer and it is the reason of the so-called moving of the “border,” Luda Salia, resident of Khurvaleti village said, who protested the moving occupation together with the anti-occupation movement.
Russian soldiers stopped borderization in Khurvaleti after it caused active protest and representatives of the anti-occupation movement arrived on the place.

The State Security Service clarifies that installment of barbwires has not renewed in Dzuakaantkari; instead the occupants replace the so-called old fences with new ones. Nobody confirmed the moving of the occupation line in the State Security Service and the representatives stated that hotline is working in their office and the EUMM is also informed about the fact.
