New Details in the Case of the Woman’s Murder in Surami town

October 23, 2020
The Shida Kartli and Mtskheta-Mtianeti regional prosecutor’s office completely satisfied the solicitation of Human Rights Center and imposed the charge of the murder committed based on gender motives and with particular cruelty on defendant I.K, who is accused of the murder of his wife in Surami. The crime is punished by imprisonment from 16 to 20 years or by life-sentence.

On July 6, 2020, in the town of Surami, the husband shot his wife T.R from gun several times, who died on the place. T.R was mother of three children. The Shida Kartli regional police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs works on the criminal case. The investigation was launched into an intentional murder of a family member.

After Human Rights Center got involved into the case, the HRC lawyer requested the Shida Kartli and Mtskheta-Mtianeti regional prosecutor’s office to impose additional charges on I.K – for the murder committed based on gender motives. At the same time, the HRC lawyer solicited to start investigation of the murder committed with particular cruelty.

After the conclusion of the psychiatric expertize declared the defendant had restricted responsibility, the prosecutor’s office notified the human rights defender of the victim side that they accept the solicitation of the Human Rights Center and on October 21, in the penitentiary establishment, new charges were brought against the defendant I.K for the murder committed based on gender motive and with particular cruelty.

Human Rights Center defends legal interests of the victim’s assignee M.R – the mother of the deceased T.R.
