"November 7" at The Hobby Gallery

On December 10th at 4:00PM, the Human Rights Center opened a photo exhibition in honor of the International Day of Human Rights. “We wish to never show photos like these in the future,” and with these words, the exhibition opened. The theme of the event was human rights, but because of the recent situation in Georgia, it focused on the reportage of the events of November 7th.

The Human Rights Center announced a photo competition with three categories: photo journalism, poster and single image of human rights. The jury of five people (photographers Guram Tsibakhashvili, Zurab Kurtsikidze, Agnes Montanar, photography expert Nestan Nizharadze and Kakha Fkhakadze, a representative of Photolife magazine) chose the winners.

Photo-reportage: Dato Rostomashvili (300 Euro)
Poster: Temur Bardzimashvili (300 Euro)
Single image of Human Rights: Shorena Ghlonti (300 Euro)
Single image of the rights of the child: Roma Lomidze (photo camera)

Another competition was announced for the journalists working on human rights issues. The jury selected the best journalistic works in the following categories: journalistic investigation, single article on human rights and single article on conflict reporting. The jury members were experienced journalists Aleko Tskitishvili and Tinatin Maisashvili, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Journalism at Tbilisi State University Magda Memanishvili and the editor of IWPR, Sofo Bukia.

The jury selected the following winners:

Nana Biganishvili: Journalistic investigation “Gori”, Studio “Monitor”. (300 Euro)
Gela Mtivlishvili: Journalistic investigation “Purchase at midnight.” Newspaper Resonance (300 Euro)
 Tamuna Maisuradze: An article “in the expectations of the new law”, newspaper “24 Saati” (300 Euro)
Emzar Diasamidze: an article “The Varshalomidzes Remained Alone in Three-storied House”, newspaper “Batumelebi” (photo-camera and digital Dictaphone)
Koba Liklikadze and Anaid Gogoriani: Conflict Reporting “Abkhazia: in search of missing people” IWPR (300 Euro and digital Dictaphones)

The project was implemented with the support of the Swiss Embassy, the Dutch Embassy, the OSCE Mission to Georgia and the Institute for War and Peace (IWPR).

We invite you to the Hobby Gallery, located at #8 Chanturia Street, Tbilisi, to view the exhibition, which will be on display until December 16.
