Kartlos Sharashenidze

After Gia Gachechiladze was beaten near the Tbilisi Police Department his health condition has worsened. As a result of the beating he had an infection in his blood and he was threatened with blood poisoning. Gachechiladze is under the observation of doctors and has a high temperature.

The Human Rights Center spoke with Mamuka Ghlonti, director of the TV Company “Maestro”, and with Gia Gachechiladze himself.

We visited Gia Gachechiladze on the political reality show “Cell N 5” produced by the TV Company Maestro. It is very easily noticeable that he feels bad and cannot even speak.

-What kind of traumas caused the complication of your health and how do you feel now?

Gia Gachechiladze: -when they were beating me, they dragged me with my back on the ground and sand got into the wounds. It caused infection. Besides that I have bruises all over my body and it poisons my blood. I have a high temperature and doctors are looking after me.

-Did you request medical expertise?

-I did not request separate expertise, however there is an official document where my injuries and diagnosis are described.

-Mr. Mamuka, what is health condition of Mr. Gia? What do doctors say and what is their prognosis?

Mamuka Ghlonti:

-As a result of the physical trauma, his health condition worsened gradually. Now he does not suffer from pains but he has a very high temperature. As doctors say a toxification process is going on in his body. We think it should not threaten his life..

-Why medical expertise was not carried out on the injuries?

-There is no necessity for it. That is the conclusion of doctors who concretely describe the injuries. Besides that there are video-recordings where it is seen how he was being beaten. So, it is very clear what kind of injuries he received.

After Gia Gachechiladze jumped over the fence of the Tbilisi Police Department policemen beat him ruthlessly. Now those injuries have worsened. Doctors state the toxification process is going on. Despite poor health, the reality show “Cell N5” still continues.
