Former Street Traders Protest against Tax Increase

Tbilisi. 18.08.04. Media News. Former street traders are against the administration of the Central Supermarket and blame them of illegally raising taxes. The protesters organized the action demanding tax cuts and demand from the government to keep their promise. According to the demonstrators, taxes have risen up to 9Gel as opposed to the expected 4Gel.

Traders applied to the city government for help. As it is known, the city government has forbidden street trading since February and street traders were offered alternative trading centers in the Central Supermarket.

According to the promises made by the city government, they would have to be exempt from local taxes.
