Kidnapped Shalva Ponia Released

Zugdidi. 30.08.04. Media News. Mr Shalva Ponia was released a month after his kidnapping during which time he had been severely tortured.  Ponia reported that his assailants were Russian and Megrelian speaking and were mentioning the name of his cousin, Beglar Ponia, who was the former head of the Zugdidi Criminal Police and who was murdered by Abkhaz separatists.
