Alternative Variant of the Bill on “Broadcasting” Has Been Developed

Tbilisi.29.09.04.Media News. Kahka kukava, MP has developed an alternative variant of the broadcasting bill, which envisages that only one state television shall exist and other three state radio channels and one more TV Channel, namely the Second Channel shall be sold.

According to Kakha kukava, the State Channel must transmit parliamentary sessions, election debates and information programs, in which opinions of the government as well as the opposition must be considered.  The Television shall be financed by the state budget.

Member of Parliament states that in the State Television there is no room for programs of ideological type and Talk-Shows.

According to the project TV Tower must be the state property and all the current televisions should have possibility to use it in conditions of non-discrimination.

At the same time all the existing licenses must remain unchanged i.e. TV Companies must have the license for 10 years and if they meet the conditions of the license the term of using the license will be automatically prolonged.

Kakha Kukava thinks that the bill on “Broadcasting” introduced by Giga Bokeria, MP comes into contradiction with all the principles of entrepreneurship.
