Unemployment Rate is Very High in the City

Media News. According to the data of September 1, 2004 the number of registered people in state services, who are seeking jobs, has been diminished by 8,2 % in comparison with the relevant date of the previous year. Comparing this rate with the previous month it has been reduced by 18.6% and comprised 44.2 000 men, from which 21.6 000, i.e. 48.8 % are women.

Unemployment rate among the whole quantity of job seekers has come up to 97.8%.

The number of unemployed men registered for this date has been diminished by 4.9% in comparison with the relevant date of the previous year, which in its way has been reduced by 16.4% comparing it with the previous month and composed 43.3 000 men, from which 21.1 000, i.e. 49% represent women.

According to the data of September 1, 2004 inquired by the state department of statistics, the number of registered vacancies in state services, has been diminished by 1.4 % in comparison with the relevant date of the previous year and comparing with the previous month  it has been increased by 2.5 % and came up to  1088.

63.5% of vacancies are registered in private sector. There were nearly 40 registered unemployed men on one vacancy.

In January-August of 2004, employment agencies employed 2599 job seekers (34.1% less, than in the relevant period of the previous year).
According to the varieties of jobs, the highest rate of unemployed comes on construction (20.1%), it is followed by industry 15.9%, then comes state government and defence – 11.7% and obligatory social insurance 11.7%.
