The Practice of Bearing False Witnesses and Putting Drugs Continues

Tbilisi. Media News. On October 19 NGO the “Former Political Prisoners for Human Rights” held the press conference and made public one more fact of bearing false witness and putting drugs in purpose by the police.

Konstantine Kaloiani, one of such false witnesses attended the press-conference who on March 4, 2004 was made by the policemen of Didube-Chugureti district police department to sign evidence as a witness which read that he had seen how police found drug while searching Irakli Asatiani. Mamikon Stepaniani also attended the searching process who was also made to deceivingly sign the evidence.

On October 18 the witnesses stated at the legal proceeding that they had not seen drug while searching the detainee and police made them to bear false witness.

According to Kaloiani, after the proceeding police chased and put pressure on him. He was taken off the driving license without any reason and then called him to the police department. According to Keti Bekauri, the attorney of Kaloiani, the policemen want to take Kaloiani to police department in order to make him change his evidence stated at the proceeding by the means of pressure.
