NGOs Demand Pardon from Spain for Beating of Azmaifarashvili

Tbilisi. Media News. The NGO “Constitution and Society” demands the investigation of the fact of beating of Zurab Azmaifarashvili, vice-president of “FIDE”. Should the allegations be proven, the Foreign Ministry of Spain is asked to express its apologies to  Azmaiparashvili, the president of Georgia and Georgia generally.

According to the president of the “Constitution and Society” Andro Darchiashvili, Georgia defends the rights of every foreign citizen visiting the country notwithstanding their religious or racial origin. Even though Zurab Azmaiparashvili is not an average citizen, the government is under an obligation to defend the rights of any ordinary citizen regardless of his or her standing.
Darchiashvili holds the view that Spain, being an EU member state should pay more attention to the defense of human rights.

The vice president of “FIDE” Zurab Azmaifarashvili was beaten by Spanish policemen at the closing ceremony of Chess Olympics.
