Action against Fascism and Anti-Semitism
On 9th of November Human Rights Information and Documentation center held an action, which was dedicated to the international day of fighting against Fascism and Anti-Semitism. In 1938 Nazi authorities began a wide-scale campaign against German Jewish people. From 9th of November German Nazi regime implemented awful restrictions towards Jewish people, as a result of which hundreds of thousand of people were under repression, thirty thousand people were sent to concentration camps, two hundred synagogues, hundreds of schools and Jewish literature were destroyed.
The “cleansing” programme of the Nazi authorities was directed against six million Jews, which were considered to be the “enemies of the authority.” Repressions were conducted also against 1.5 million Roma people, ten thousand mentally ill, political opponents of Hitler, minorities and other innocent people.
The international day of fighting against Fascism and Anti-Semitism is celebrated in 43 European countries. Within the framework of this campaign Human Rights Information and Documentation Center conducted an action with the slogan: “We are against any kind of intolerance” The action was directed against human rights violations in Georgia, manifestations of intolerance as well as national and religious extremism.
