Ill with Tuberculosis on Hunger Strike

Tbilisi.17.11.04.Media News. Four patients of the Tbilisi National Centre for Tuberculosis are still on hunger strike. They threaten no to stop until the state pays due attention provides them with the required medicine.
The strikers also demand a meeting with the Minister of Health.

According to Gia Khesiashvili, Director of the Tuberculosis Centre the strikers’ health is in poor condition and they need medicine, which is presently not imported into Georgia.

“The program for importing needed medicine for the treatment of multi resistant tuberculosis will start in Georgia from 2007 but the Ministry of Health is trying to solve the problem in the nearest future ”, - states Gia Khesishvili.
