Pre-detention Imprisonment Was Extended to Former Minister

Tbilisi.06.12.04.Media-News. On the 6th of December the Regional court of Tbilisi has extended the pre-detention imprisonment for two months to the former Minister Valeri Vashakidze.

On the 8th of September Law enforcements imprisoned Valeri Vashakidze blaming in giving false IDP cards. According to the investigation, it damaged the state budget with 1 100 000 GEL. 

According to Giorgi Gviniashvili, the supervisor of the investigation department of the General Prosecution, the was launched on September 2 on the basis of the materials received from the Ministry of Refugees and Placement regarding the exaggeration of his office duties in 1998-2004.

According to the information of the investigation, Vashakidze, during his office years, established a rule that confronted Georgian legislation. According to this rule 2002 people illegally received the status of IDP. 1 100 000 GEL was spent on these people in those years.
