Former High-ranking Official of Adjara is Likely to be Detained

Financial Police is likely to detain another former high-ranking official of Adjara. A criminal case has been brought against Osiko Gvarishvili, Former Secretary General of “Revival Union” and close relative of Aslan Abashidze. Former Vice Speaker of the parliament of Adjara is charged with avoiding taxes. Financial Police took the bookkeepimg documentation from the Institute which belongs to him. According to Mikheil Makharadze, Head of Department 9 of Financial Police the students of this Institute have been paying 100 USD since 1992 but in the bookkeeping of the Institute only 100 GEL was registered. At the same time tax inspection had not been carried out during these years due to the high position Gvarishvili was holding.

In Financial Police they do not exclude the possibility of Gvarishvili’s detention, though for the moment he is hiding from the investigation.

ASlan Abashidze’s right hand is Pro-rector of Batumi Economics, Law and Dental Institute. He has not appeared in the institute for several days already.
Osiko Gvarishvili is the only person left among the relatives of Aslan Abashidze in the legitimacy of whose property General Prosecutor’s Office has not yet taken interest in.
