Soldiers on Strike and their Officers will be Strictly Punished

Tbilisi.20.12.04.Media News. Irakli Okruashvili, Georgian Minister of Defense gives strict estimation to the action of about 70 soldiers of Mukhrovani Battalion, who left the place of dislocation on December 20 demanding the obligatory military service according to living places and improvement of conditions in the military.

According to Okruashvili their demands are groundless and the soldiers together with the officers will be strictly punished.

“Military service according to living places is not sensible, the building of Mukhrovani Batallion is renovated and their the conditions are far better” – stated Okruashvili.

The soldiers on strike gathered in front of Public Defender’s Office, though Bacho Akhalaia, Deputy Public Defender stated that he is not going to support their anti-state action.

Irakli Sesiashvili, another advisor of the Public Defender has a comparatively different position. In his opinion General Inspection should take an interest in the situation in Mukhrovani Battalion as the money allocated for the soldiers is being misused.

The soldiers were joined by their parents who say that their sons had not even had possibility to wash for two months. Currently soldiers of Mukhrovani Batallion are in Tbilisi, on the territory of the 8th Regiment.
