Beaten Ossetian Journalist Refuses to make Comments

Tbilisi.11.01.05.Media-News. Journalist Alan Parastaev, the Director of Non Governmental Organization “Center for Humanistic Research and Initiatives” in Tskhinvali, who was cruelly beaten by the Ossetian Law Enforcements on December 30, was hospitalized at neurological department of the First Clinical Hospital in Tbilisi for treatment.

According to doctors, after first step of treatment the patient recovered his speech, though he has lapses of memory at present.

Alan Parastaev was beaten by Ossetin law enforcements after he demanded to let humanitarian stuff go through Ossetia to the Georgian villages. He had been receiving medical treatment for one week with the diagnosis of concussion of the brain at Hospital in Tskhinvali. Because of the bad weather it was impossible to send him to north Ossetia and his relatives decided to hospitalize him in Tbilisi.

According to David Pavliashvili, the director of the Centre, at present the patient’s health is stable, but he refuses to give detailed information considering the wish of the patient’s relatives.

“The patient’s relatives stated that if doctors disseminate the information, they will take the patient to another hospital. The legislation compels us to “keep silence,”- stated David Pavliashvili in an interview with “Media-News.”
