Inhabitants of Kharagauli Plan to Block the Railway

Kharagauli, 1/31/05, Media-News. On January 31st, about five hundred inhabitants of the Kharagauli region held a protest action demanding electricity.

After several hours of waiting for representatives of the local self-government, the demonstrators broke into the local municipality building and occupied the meeting hall.

According to local inhabitants they have not been supplied with electricity for more than two weeks and despite several appeals to the local government, it was not even possible to organize a
schedule.


After breaking into the building, leaders of the self government and representatives from the Energy Company met the demonstrators and promised improvement of the situation.

Residents of Kharagauli have halted protesting for now, but if energy is not provided in a matter of days, they plan to will block the Kharagauli railway.
