Escaped Prisoner Killed in Police Response Fire 

Tbilisi.02.23.05.Media News. Employees of both the Investigative Department and the Tbilisi Didube-Chugureti Department of the Interior Ministry have detained 32-year-old Zorbeg Melkadze as part of the first phase of their investigative measures known as “Trap 1”. Melkadze is wanted for escaping from prison and was found having a gun with seven bullets and one hand grenade. 

Also wanted for escape from prison was 26-year-old  Vladimer Khoshtaria, however he was recently killed by police in response fire when he resisted police detention. He had both a gun and a hand grenade on him at the time. On January 28 Khoshtaria had robbed T.Tsikiashvili in Tsereteli Avenue.
The case is currently being investigated by the Prosecutor’s Office.
