Ministry of Education Faces an Action at the Constitutional Court

Tbilisi. 03.04.05. Media News. The non-governmental organization Impeachment Procedures Initiative Center has accused the Ministry of Education and Science of violating of the Constitution of Georgia, and intends to file an appeal to the Constitutional Court.

The head of the NGO, Giorgi Mkurnaladze, announced at a press conference on March 3 that the Ministry of Education and Science violated part 3 of article 35 of the Constitution by setting a 30 lari charge to register for national exams and a 50 lari charge in cases of protesting against a received grade.  According to the aforementioned law, state bodies are obliged to fund such universal activities.

Mkurnaladze said that the government deprives Georgian citizens, who are not of an age where they might have 80 lari, of the possibility of participating in the national exams.

The Impeachment Procedures Initiative Center is going to file its claim against the Ministry of Education and Science at the Constitutional Court in the near future.
