Round Table Will be Devoted to Discussion of Criminal Court Persecution Issues

Tbilisi.28.04.05.MediaNews. On 30 April, within a framework of cooperation between the OSCE and the Learning Centre of the Ministry of Justice, a round table will be held on the topic ‘Preliminary Investigation and Criminal Court Persecutions.’

The significance of the topic has been conditioned by the newest changes made to the Criminal Procedural Code.  According to these changes, the gathering of preliminary information has been cancelled, a line has been drawn between preliminary investigation and criminal prosecution, and the procedural timescale has also been changed.

With these changes, the subordination sphere of such organs as the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Defense has been broadened.

The organization of procedural agreement has also been changed. Representatives from the Ministry of Justice, the Learning Centre of the Ministry of Justice, Common Courts, the General Prosecutor’s Office and other governmental bodies will participate in the discussion.
