Protest Held Near Engurhesi

Tsalenjikha.08.05.05.MediaNews. The people of the village Jvari, in the Tsalenjhikha region, have been protesting about the lack of electricity in the town. They say that the local administration does not provide electricity to them because of non-payment, but that it must be taken into account that most people are unemployed. ‘Give us jobs and we will pay,’ Tsalenjhikha residents say.

According to one of the participants of the demonstration, they are experiencing an electricity shortage even though the Electrohes power plant is very close to the village. ‘Our village suffered a lot from the construction of the Engurihess [hydroelectric plant], because it took up 130 hectares of land’, - say residents of Jvari.
