Tbilisi Market Traders Clog Tamari Square in Tbilisi

Tbilisi. June 1, 2005. Media News. Traders of the Tbilisi Central Market have held a protest, blocking Tamari Square for two hours and demanding withdrawal of street vendors from the Market territory.

According to protest participants, there is enough free room for trading inside the Market available to the street vendors. It is because of the street vendors that their products can barely be sold inside the Market.

This action later turned into a scuffle, triggered by the displeasure of the drivers blocked by the protest.

Police disbursed the protest but participants have stated that if their demands are not considered, they will again block the square.
