”Media-Club” Speaks about the Violations of the Rights of Journalists

Tbilisi. Media News. 07.07.05. The Open Letter which reads about the restriction of media by the side of the government was sent to the Georgian government, Council of Europe, diplomatic corps as well as to the international organizations by the “Georgian Media-Club” . 

The representatives of the “Media Club” state that the Government ignores the freedom of media after the “Rose Revolution”. The Letter is signed by 62 journalists.

If we do not feel the support from the society to defend the freedom of media, the cancellation of the newspapers, radios and TV channels will be the private tragedy not only for the journalists left unemployed but for the whole society” – states Tamar Chikovani, the head of the Radio “Tavisufleba”, Tbilisi office.

According Zviad Koridze, the representative of the TV Company “Mze”, journalists are taking risk with this latter of appeal, but it will be reminder for the that such attitude towards the Media is devastating.
