Tea Tutberidze Wants the Minister of Justice to be Sued

26/09/05, “Media News” - Chief of the Monitoring Committee of the Ministry of Justice and the Penitentiary Department Tea Tutberidze, has requested the General Prosecutor to start proceedings against the Minister of Justice Konstantine Kemularia.

Tutberidze demands an investigation process to start about the non-licensed Medical Departments, which are operating in the Penitentiary Department. The Monitoring Council has recently discovered that, although required by law, not a single hospital in the Penitentiary Department has a new license. The deadline for issuing new licenses passed on March the 1st.

Kemularia has commented on Tutberidze’s attack. He said that the members of the Council blow the problems up artificially and arrive at false conclusions. Kemularia mentioned an existing report issued by the OSCE, according to which the situation in the Penitentiary Department is satisfactory.
