“Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan is the Most Harmless Pipeline in the World”

12/10/05, “Media News”- Georgian non-governmental sector accuses “British Petroleum” of the violation of security measures, while building BTC Oil Pipeline. The manager of “British Petroleum” Riv Diggens denied these accusations during the press conference held in Tbilisi Courtyard Marriot. “Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline is the most harmless pipeline in the world,”- he said.

The length of the pipeline through Georgian territory is 249 km; diameter of the pipeline is 1050 millimeters. The pipeline crosses seven regions of Georgia, with the highest spot on 2400 meters.

According to Diggens, clefts were discovered in the area of pipeline connections, but the problem was solved, before putting pipeline in the ground.
