Seminar for Social Journalism in Likani

13/10/05, “Media News”- The Human Rights Information and Documentation Centre, together with the Swedish non-governmental organizations Natverkstan, Socialpolitik and Globalverkstan, have held a seminar for journalists from the 10th till the 13th of October in Likani, Georgia.

Georgian journalists, as well as media representatives from Sweden participated in the event. The aim of the project was the exchange of experience between the colleagues.

According to the head of the Human Rights Information and Documentation Centre Ucha Nanuashvili, the above-mentioned seminar was the first in social journalism held on the initiative of the organization.

“The human rights situation in Georgia is still very problematic, representatives of the government and members of society very seldom pay attention to this problem. Our aim is to make this problem the topic of mass discussion. The meeting showed us, that we have much more problems in the societal sphere than we expected.”- said Ucha Nanuashvili.

He also added that meetings and seminars on this issue should take place more often and that contacts between NGOs and Media should deepen.
