Protest of Ex-Members of the Military Structures

25.10.05, “Media News” – Ex-members of the Georgian Military Structures held a protest in front of the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs.
Ex-police officers protested against the new law on pensions. They said that the changes in the legislation amount to a reduction in their pension allowance.

The demonstrators did not allow employees of the Ministry to enter the building. They demanded an appointment with Vakhtang Megrelishvili, the deputy Minister. Megrelishvili met the protesters, but it was impossible to engage in a dialogue during the noisy meeting.

According to representatives of the State Foundation of Social Police, the new law only envisages changes in the pension system for those people who retire after 2006.
