Ministry of Justice Categorically Denies the Fact That a Prisoner has Sewed up His Mouth

Georgian Ministry of Justice categorically denies the fact that an Azeri journalist Gajar Huseinov has sewed up his mouth and started a hunger-strike. The "Azeri News" news agency had earlier made that statement based on Huseinov's relatives' evidence.

According to the Head of Ministry of Justice's Press Service, Irakli Maisuradze, Huseinov, who was in the prison hospital with pneumonia from August 13 till October 7, suffers a nervous breakdown right now. However, he's not going to be transferred back to the hospital because of this.

"More serious patients need to be treated in the prison republic hospital" - Head of the Ministry's Press Center said. According to journalist's mother Eter Huseinova, Gajar Huseinov has tuberculosis and he can't receive necessary medical help.

Georgian citizen of Azeri origin journalist Gajar Huseinov, who was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment for fraud used to be an Azerbaijani-speaking newspaper "Yeni Diushundja's" (new opinion) photo correspondent. Editor-in-chief of the newspaper, Gajar Huseinov's brother Niaz Huseinov is in Baku right now.

In his interview with "Azeri Press" news agency Niaz Huseinov said that if the court doesn't satisfy his appeal on December 16 according to which his brother has to be released from jail, he'll publish the Georgian secret services' plan on "Gradual Expulsion of Azerbaijanis from Georgia".

At the same time Niaz Huseinov is going to start a hunger-strike in front of Georgian Embassy in Baku.
