Prisoner Died in the Jail #5

12.01.06, “Media News” – 43 years-old prisoner Vitally Kokhareli died in the Jail #5 yesterday. He was moved to Tbilisi jail from the Batumi prison for psychiatric treatment. According to his lawyers, no treatment was conducted.
The inmates informed the Ombudsman Sozar Subari about the incident by phone. The inmates say Kokhareli had epilepsy. According to unofficial information, he was on a hunger strike as well.

Sozar Subari says that the representatives of his office visited the prison yesterday, but they were not informed about the death of the prisoner. The real reason of the death will be known after the expertise.
