Prisoners will no longer experience Problems with watching TV and using Telephone

Tbilisi, 17.01.06  Medianews.- Elene Tevdoradze, the head of Committee on Human Rights and Civil Integration in Georgian Parliament , met Gia Kavtaradze, the minister of Justice.

According to Tevdoradze, they discussed the situation in penitentiary institutions. “The meeting was held in a constructive atmosphere. The minister agreed that we should create better living conditions for the prisoners in the old prisons and colonies before building the new ones. I am sure that the minister will do his best to lessen the cases of violation of the prisoners’ rights,” says Tevdoradze.

According to the head of the Committee, the minister of Justice did not confirm the information that the televisions and telephones were taken out of the prisons.  He also promised that the prisoners will no longer experience the problems with watching TV and using telephone,” claims Tevdoradze.
