Prisoner Escaped from Hospital

February 3, 2006

 Prisoner Escaped from Hospital

Prisoner Zurab Dumbadze escaped from the Batumi hospital for infectious diseases, where he was placed on the 12-th of January because of HIV. Four guards always were in the ward with the prisoner. In spite of this, Dumbadze managed to run away from the hospital on the 31st of January at night through the backdoor.

Two years ago, Zurab Dumbadze was arrested because of the murder of citizen Mikeladze. He received a penalty of 11 and half years.
Batumi #3 prison’s deputy Iuri Dirvaliani said they were going to transfer Dumbadze to the Kutaisi prison.
The four guards were put under arrest.
