Gori Administration Staff Chosen Through Personal Contacts

Dismissed staff sue Regional Governor Nukri Papunashvili. Tamuna Khetaguri, a discharged employee with the public relations service of the administration, speaks about the violation of her rights. She says that the dismissals that take place in the regional administration concern qualified staff who fulfill all the requirements. “They fire people according to their personal attitudes towards them”, says Khatuna Khetaguri.

Tamar Edisherashvili, the Deputy Governor, commented that Khatuna Khetaguri was among eleven employees who were dismissed from their posts because of reorganization in the administration.

In 2004 the brother of Khatuna Khetaguri, who worked in Shida Kartli Regional Police Department, was wounded during an operation in the Georgia - Osetia conflict zone. Officials visited Officer Khetaguri and promised to assist the family. However, at the same time, his sister Khatuna Khetaguri was discharged from her position without an apology.
