The Suit of TV Program “60 Minutes” has not been Considered for Almost a Year

The suit against the Governor of Shida Kartli, Mikheil Kareli, has returned to the Gori Court for consideration. Nana Biganishvili, the journalist from the TV Program “60 Minutes”, applied to the court nearly a year ago. Her application was sent to almost every official body, but nobody considered it.

The journalist accused Mr. Kareli of withholding public information and demands the punishment of every person who is involved in withholding details about Kareli’s foundation.

The application was received by the Gori Court last year, but soon it was forwarded to the Tbilisi City Court, as Beganishvili is a Tbilisi inhabitant. From the City Court it was transferred to the Supreme Court. Two days ago, the application was again sent to the Gori Court. According to Bondo Vatiashvili, the head of the Gori Court, discussion of the application, received from the Supreme Court should be conducted by the regional court.

“At first, all the cases connected to decisions made by the Governors were discussed by the Appeal Chamber of the Second Instance. However, according to new legislation, all cases must be considered in the First Instance.”

Moreover, the defender of the President Representative’s Office, lawyer Gia Amashukeli, has refused to defend the interests of Kareli.
