Chair of Energy Regulation National Commission Threatened a Magazine’s Editor-in-chief

According to the statement made by NGO “Energy Efficiency Foundation” and “Association of Energy Generators”, Chair of Energy Regulation National Commission Giorgi Tavadze threatened the editor-in-chief of magazine “Energetikis Regulirebis Matsne” (energy regulation bulletin) and Head of NGO “Energy Efficiency Foundation” Vakhtang Zarkua with physical abuse during the meeting of the Commission.

At the February 16 meeting Zarkua expressed his dissatisfaction with the fact that his recommendations had been ignored for several years (Zarkua is an expert in the energy field – media.ge) despite the fact that the Commission had decided to discuss one of the recommendations submitted by Zarkua.

After the heated argument between Zarkua and Tavadze over that subject Tavadze told the editor-in-chief: “I’m going to answer you outside”.

The authors of the statement urge the representatives of NGOs to adequately respond to such irresponsible behavior of high-ranking public officials.

At the same time the authors of the address state that the Regulation Commission systematically violates the law and doesn’t publish its administrative acts in the magazine, besides, it doesn’t publish those acts even on its own website.
