Traders in Samegrelo Start Strikes

In three regions of Samegrelo; Zugdidi, Senaki and Khobi, traders are protesting against the Government’s decision regarding the compulsory purchase of cash desks. The protests are being held in the city centers, near markets and in front of local government buildings. A local organization known as the ‘New Righters’ visited the protesters in Khobi. According to our information, the protests in the three regions will last the whole day. The number of representatives of opposition parties is growing among the protesters. The number of political messages is increasing as demonstrators say: “We elected you and we will remove you!”, “Our Government Lies!” and so on. The demonstration held by the traders in Samegrelo has already gone beyond the issue of cash desks and has turned into more concerted political action.
